The Greening Campaign
With the growing emphasis and need to encourage a ‘green’ attitude, the Council
remains very keen to encourage development of the Greening Campaign in the
Bishopstoke community and to this end fully supports the meeting to be held on
Sunday 16 November at 1.30pm for a 2.00pm start at The Methodist Church
Hall, Sedgwick Road, Bishopstoke. The meeting is open to everyone to discuss
their ideas on ways of helping and Councillors hope that members of the
community will take this opportunity to come and lend their support to one of the
most pressing needs of modern times.

Newsletter Award
It was a pleasant surprise to learn that in a competition to find the best parish
newsletter in Hampshire organised by the Hampshire Association of Parish
Councils the Bishopstoke Newsletter was awarded joint third place.
Congratulations to the editor – and of course the contributors. Copies of the
Newsletter can be found on the Parish website.

The next meeting of the Parish Council will be on Tuesday 25 November
2008 at 7.30pm in the Methodist Church Hall, Sedgwick Road, Bishopstoke.
All meetings of the Parish Council and its Committees are open to the
public.

Church News
The Church of England in Bishopstoke

In Bishopstoke, there are two Church of England buildings, but we think of ourselves as one Christian family – because we are!

St Mary’s is on Church Road in Old Bishopstoke, and the main service is normally at 11 am on a Sunday.

St Paul’s is on Old Fair Oak Road (opposite The Welcome), and the main service is normally at 9.30 am on a Sunday.

Each week there is at least one service that is appropriate for children, or has children’s Christian activities.

We also have various mid-week activities, including a toddler group and groups that meet for friendship, prayer and to look at the Bible together.

We are always happy to hear from people who would like to be prayed for or ask anything about Christianity.

For more details or to ask about anything, please contact Revd Richard Wise or see our website.

Bishopstoke Methodist Church

Our church building in Sedgwick Road has been recently modernised to include disabled facilities, large meeting room with patio and a smaller meeting room. We have been raising funds to update our building over the last five years and in doing so have strengthened many links with the community in Bishopstoke.

Sunday Services: are at 10:30, with the 2nd Sunday of each month usually being Holy Communion, and the 4th Sunday of each month being all age worship appropriate for any age children.

Monday Ladies Fellowship meets at 7:30 each week, and the men’s Man Friday meets on the first Friday of each month at 7:30. Look out for various social events.

We meet with Rev Richard Wise and other members of the Anglican Church each Tuesday morning at 8:45 to hold a half-hour of bible reading and prayer in our new meeting room. Anybody is welcome to join us, or if you have any prayer concerns please feel free to contact me, Rev Lesley Martin
